Newton Study Center Conducts Career Workshop
"What college course would I like to pursue?" This may seem as a simple a question yet most students are still uncertain of their answers. Many students are too excited of the transition from high school to college and forget about the challenges it may bring. College is exciting but at the same time challenging, even to the most intellectually endowed. If you are a big fish in a small pond in high school, you may be like a small fry swimming or simply getting tossed by the ocean waves of college life.
Equipping the student for the future is the main theme of the career talk entitled "I-Career Mo!", conducted by Jubilee Christian Academy (JCA) and participated by Newton Study Center. The orientation was held last June 29, 2007 at the JCA campus. The said activity aims to help students in the following areas: (1) find the right course to take, (2) learn more information about the different courses in college and (3) know what to expect in college life.
Newton's Quezon City branch manager, Ms. Kathyrene Ellazar, was the speaker for the said workshop. Ms. Ellazar stressed the importance of having self-knowledge and knowing one's strengths and weaknesses.
“You must at least know the things that you are good at and capable of doing, the type of activities or projects that bring you satisfaction and the type of learning environment you are most comfortable with.”
